From hits to trombone solos
Dirk Amrein and Annette Meisl will perform a musical program in the St. Chrischona Church on January 16th
rz. Under the simple yet promising title “Love”, the Communication through Culture Association is organizing a matinée on Sunday, January 16th in the Church of St. Chrischona. The program by the duo Annette Meisl (vocals) and Dirk Amrein (trombone) consists of solo works, duo pieces and spontaneous improvisations, the organizers say. Hits like “Bel ami” or “Besame mucho” can be heard, as well as very unusual solo works for trombone such as pieces by Albert Mangelsdorff.
“Divergence and Convergence” by the Taiwanese composer Chihchun Chisun Lee will also be performed . It is an artistic response to the global lockdown, composed in 2020. The piece is dedicated to Dirk Amrein and is considered one of the most difficult pieces ever written for trombone. Dirk Amrein, for his part, dedicates this concert to his friend Jürg Wyttenbach, who died in December.
