Habano sommelier
Matthias Martens is a two-time winner of the German Habanosommelier competition (2002 and 2003) and a finalist at the World Habanosommelier Championships in Cuba in 2004.
He financed his studies in geography, geology and political science with jobs in the catering industry. Meanwhile, a restaurant in Regensburg hired him as deputy manager. Then the decision was made to train as a hotel specialist at the Hotel Ramada. Martens then joined the cruise ship MS Deutschland in 1998 as a steward and bar steward.
Since March 1999 he has been looking after the well-being of the guests at the VAU, the Regent and the Adlon in Berlin.
