Quai d'Orsay
Quai d'Orsay is a fairly young brand in the Habanos range. In 1973 it was introduced by Cubatabaco exclusively for the French market. The suggestion came from SEITA, the former French tobacco monopoly. The name of the brand refers to the famous street on the banks of the Seine in Paris, where the company was based at the time.
For more than 40 years, the brand was an almost unknown gem in the Habanos portfolio. The global launch aims to enable cigar lovers around the world to discover and enjoy this special brand with French charm and sophistication. It is also characterized by a full taste, character and the intensity of the best Cuban tobaccos.
A new time began for the “Quai d'Orsay” brand in 2019. This was done through the relaunch with a completely new design and the inclusion of two new formats that will be distributed internationally in Habanos SA's main markets.
In the XIX. They were presented for the first time at the Festival del Habano: the Quai d'Orsay No.50 (production name “D No.5”) with a length of 110 mm and a typical Robusto ring gauge of 50 as well as the Quai d'Orsay No.54 (production name “Edmundo Grueso”), a completely new format, with a length of 135 mm and a huge ring gauge of 54. Both are offered in unpainted wooden boxes containing 10 and 25 pieces. The brand's third vitola in the classic Corona format has existed since the brand's birth: the Quai d'OrsayCoronas Claro (production name "Coronas") with a medium ring gauge of 42 and a length of 142 mm. This cigar is still available in an unpainted box of 25 cigars.
For the reintroduction, the brand design was completely revised. It now presented itself with attractive and elaborately produced, enlarged cigar rings and decorations (“habilitaciones”) on the cigar boxes. High-quality printing techniques were used and various gold tones, embossings and patterns were included. Since then, the name of the format has also been printed on the cigar ring.
The two new formats are characterized by their mild and elegant tobacco blend of Cuban black tobacco, which has distinguished the brand from the beginning. All three formats of the “Quai d'Orsay” brand are rolled as long filler using the production method that has been common in Cuba for centuries - totalmente a mano . The tobacco used all comes from the world-famous Vuelta Abajo region in western Cuba.
